I was very pleased to receive a call at 8:10am today from Ferguson that my appliance delivery was on-site and needed someone to let them in. Conveniently, I was on my way out the door for work and was able to swing by. I only stuck around long enough to learn that the refrigerator was too large to fit through the doorway and that they would have to dissemble the entire refrigerator. That was enough stress for a Monday morning so I left to head into work. Pics to follow whenever I can get around to stopping by the house again...

Hardwood floors are complete!
The guys got started sanding and staining the hardwood floors earlier this week. Now they are complete and looking gorgeous! The odor is pretty strong and they need a few days to fully dry. Next up: shoe molding installation and other fixture installation (fans, etc).

A few things were crossed off the list this week:
Since Dominion did their thing, our old meter was officially removed and a new one was installed. Therefore, the guys patched up the wall and completed the floor where the old meter was. Trim work is being completed.
Fixtures have started being installed. Faucets are in!
Tile has been delivered! They will install the backsplash in the kitchen and the master bathroom tile after the hardwood floors are sanded and stained.

What's up next
With all of the progress over the past two weeks, we still have lots of work ahead of us and lots of decisions to make.
Work coming up:
PAINTING EXTERIOR & INTERIOR TRIM
Waiting on the exterior and interior trim around windows, doorways and baseboards to be painted.
FINISHING THE DECK
The deck is just about complete, but the stairs still need to be built. We have to wait for Dominion to finish burying the power lines before this can be completed.
COUNTER TOPS
The templaters came yesterday to do the measurements for the marble countertops for the kitchen and master bathroom. Here is a pic of the "lot" that we chose from Arc.
MASTER BATH TILE
We selected the tile several weeks ago, but since it was on back order, we are awaiting delivery and installation of the floor tile and shower tile.
BACKSPLASH
We have decided to go with a glossy white subway tile with a light gray grout. Awaiting installation.
HARDWARE INSTALLATION
After a million trips to the hardware store, we decided on polished nickel bin pulls and polished nickel knobs for both the kitchen and master bathroom vanity. We decided on polished nickel over chrome because it has a bit of a richer look.
Bin pulls: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Martha-Stewart-Living-Bedford-3-in-Polished-Nickel-Canopy-Cup-Cabinet-Hardware-Pull-136306-0/202241364
Knobs: http://www.lowes.com/pd_20988-54151-D2051-31.75NP_0__?productId=3200847
Decisions to make
Bathroom accessories: Need to select TP holders and towel racks. We're thinking chrome (shiny) for both, as to coordinate with the other fixtures. Need to pull the trigger.
Bathroom mirrors: Need to select mirrors. Thinking two medium size white framed mirrors for the master bath; and a frameless oval mirror for the half bath. Again, need to pull the trigger.

Lots of updates!
Since we were out of town all last week, and this week has gone by quickly, I have LOTS of updates to report.
FLOORS
The hardwood floors are being installed in the addition. They will be stained to match the color of the floors in the old part of the house.
EXTERIOR PAINT
The exterior of the house has been painted. This includes the siding on the addition as well as the brick on the original part of the house. We used Coventry Gray.
DECK
The structure of the deck has been built. The railings and stairs are being installed.
INTERIOR PAINT
The interior has been painted. This includes Revere Pewter in the family room, kitchen and hallway; Stonington Gray in the Mudroom; Whisper Gray in the half bath; and Graytint in the master bedroom and master bathroom (all Benjamin Moore).
KITCHEN CABINETS & MASTER VANITY
The kitchen cabinets (white, shaker style) were installed on Monday. We are using the same material for the master vanity.

One more post before vaca -- Sidewalk laid and cubbies in
Lots of progress on a Friday! The guys laid the sidewalk (stamped concrete in a slate color) and it's looking great. A vast improvement over our old cracked sidewalk.
The cubbies/bench were also installed in the mudroom.

A few more selections + much-needed vacation
This week, we made some additional selections.
1) We agreed on a configuration for the mudroom cubbies/storage unit. We will have a wood-stained bench plus three tall "locker"-like cubbies along one wall. We'll be doing 4' beadboard around the entire mudroom as well.
2) We selected door knobs (see here: http://www.myknobs.com/shlf10sie619.html) for all interior doors and exterior doors.
3) We agreed on closet shelving configuration for the two master closets, which included who got which closet (his on the left; mine on the right).
4) We agreed on closet shelving for the two hallway closets.
5) We agreed on a color for our new stamped concrete front walkway. We are going with "slate."
6) We selected three "lot" options for honed white carrara marble for our kitchen counter tops. Hopefully we can find a remnant of a similar material to use for the master bath vanity top.
7) We agreed on a new deck configuration -- clipped the outside corners and added a landing with two sets of stairs. Definitely think this will have a cooler effect than the original design.
We are headed on vacation to Florida for seven days, and likely will checked out from making any major renovation decisions or selections for that time. However, progress will ensue back at 7603. This includes interior trim, exterior and interior painting, and maybe even installation of our kitchen cabinets and master bathroom vanity! Lots of pics to be posted after vacation.

Mother Nature's Fury
Tuesday night's brief storm barreled through 7603's yard. An oak tree in our yard crashed to the ground, taking out a power line and our fence (and maybe our neighbor's fence) in the process. Fortunately it did NOT crash onto the newly-built deck (!!!) or the house. Phewww! Nonetheless, we lost power, as did most of our neighbors (sorry) and we are left to clean up the mess. We'll get the tree removed and see how we will go about repairing the fence. Once the tree is removed, we can assess the damage (if any) to our neighbor's fence.

Insulation & Drywall
There wasn't too much activity last week (finishing up electrical, digging holes for the deck footings) but this week has seen quite a bit of action already!
Yesterday the insulation was installed (double insulation around the master bath -- thanks, dad). And today, the drywall installation began. It's really starting to come together!
