Decisions, decisions: Plumbing & electrical selections

Mom went with me to Ferguson to begin our plumbing and electrical selections. We worked off of a selection sheet (photo below) and made some big and not so big decisions including:

1) Overhead fans for family room and master bedroom
2) Overhead lighting for closets and mudroom
3) Vanity lighting for half bath and master bath
4) Faucets for half bath and master bath
5) Toilet for half bath and master bath
6) Pedestal sink for half bath

I need to do more research on the pendent lighting for the kitchen island and the overhead chandelier for above the kitchen table. More to come on options...

A couple of our selections so far include:

It's going down... I'm yellin TIMBER!

Step one in the process.... Trees are officially down! We used True Timber. Took about 10 days from start to finish, beginning with several days of precarious tree climbing, followed by some bad weather, followed by some stump grinding. Billy enjoyed watching the trucks haul away the wood. Now the backyard looks like a mess, but we have to hit rock bottom before we begin to rebuild. More to come.

And so it begins

Ready, set, go! We're moving forward with our addition and thought I'd memorialize each and every step of the process by keeping it all online. Plans are drawn and we're kicking things off.

What the house looks like now from the exterior:

Front of the house

Back of the house
Existing floor plan on main level includes three bedrooms, two full bathrooms, small kitchen, dining room, living room and sun porch (basement, which includes a half bath, laundry, work room and family room not be touched other than closing up exterior door and windows):

New floor plan, gaining about 1,000 extra square feet will include all of the above as well as an expanded kitchen that flows into an open family room and eating area, a mudroom and half bath, and a new master suite with two walk in closets and a master bath with glass shower and dual vanity. We're also adding a deck off the family room.

Plans for new exterior (front and back) includes a new front portico, the addition off the back with the deck. We'll also paint the entire house for a cohesive look and do a whole-house new roof so that all of the shingles match.
